The international metal heavyweights touch down in January

More Marduk More Marduk

Swedish black metal juggernauts Marduk and South American-bred contemporaries Inquisition have revealed that they are teaming up for a two-pronged assault of aural brutality early next year, when they touch down in Australia for a co-headline tour in January.

The tour, which takes the pioneering pair of acts through the mainland state capitals, kicks off at Perth's Amplifier Bar on Monday, January 12, and takes them to Adelaide's Enigma Bar, Melbourne's Northcote Social Club and The Hi-Fi (at which they'll be playing their LPs Panzer Division and Those Of The Unlight in full), Sydney's Hi-Fi, and Brisbane's Crowbar, where they wrap up on Sunday, January 18.

For the uninitiated, Marduk have been bringing the brutality since 1990, a time since which they have released 12 albums and come to be renowned as one of the most innovative, forward-thinking acts of the genre. With their thirteenth studio full-length on the precipice of release, they remain a vital force in black metal 24 years after their inception.

Seattle-based, Colombia-bred outfit Inquisition are proof positive of the concept that less can be more. Rolling only two deep, the band boast a bone-shaking sound that has steered them through six studio full-lengths, with their latest LP, Obscure Verses For The Multiverse continuing the trend of mind-bending black metal for which the pair have become renowned.
