Watch Michael Chugg's Message To BIGSOUND 2014

Veteran Australian music-industry legend Michael Chugg has unveiled a special message for this year's BIGSOUND showcase and conference, which gets under way in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley precinct this Wednesday.

The man behind such national powerhouses as Michael Chugg Entertainment and Chugg Music will not be at the three-day industry event this year, with commitments in Perth and the United States filling up his immediate calendar, but he nonetheless took the time to reassure the faithful his inimitable presence, and that of the bands signed to Chugg's label, would still be felt throughout BIGSOUND's duration.

"As part of our second birthday of Chugg Music, we're doing a lot of stuff at BIGSOUND this year, and I hope you can join us," Chugg says in the video. "Our bands Lime Cordiale, Major Leagues and Deep Sea Arcade are all doing showcases on the Wednesday and Thursday night … and then on Thursday night, at the Brightside, we're doing a big Chugg Music after-party, so make sure you come along.

"There'll be plenty of alcohol — bring your money — and please enjoy BIGSOUND; it's one of the great Australian events, and I know all the young managers and artists from all over Australia will be there, and it's a great thing that all you international delegates are here to learn about our industry and also spread your knowledge and intelligence to our young industry."

As Chugg mentions in the video message, Chugg Music are hosting a special BIGSOUND after-party at The Brightside on Thursday, September 11, from 11.45pm. The line-up boasts a gamut of esteemed locals including Spookyland, Hey Geronimo and Tempura Nights, with DJ spots from Deep Sea Arcade, Visions, Lime Cordiale, Rare Finds and Oceanics, and, as Chugg intimated in his clip, the booze will be flowing heartily, so get on down to The Brightside late on Thursday night to welcome Friday — and the final day of BIGSOUND — in style.

Of course, we'd be remiss if we didn't point to the other after-parties going on around the place, not least of all theMusic.com.au's official BIGSOUND after-party, which will be held at the Elephant Hotel this Thursday night (well, Friday morning, if we're being technical), from 12.15am. There'll be revelry on tap, and DJ sets from the Neon Gold DJs, Elk and Rolls Bayce — party goes till late, so be sure to pop your head in for a bit of post-event winding down.
