The two-week industry initiative will be opened by Premier Jay Weatherill

South Australia’s music-industry calendar just got a little busier, with the announcement that state Premier Jay Weatherill will be on hand to open the inaugural two-week Sounds x South Australia program this month.

The series of industry events, presented by state industry cluster organisation Musitec, will kick off at 4.30pm on Saturday, September 13, with an address from the premier and a public panel discussion canvassing “the state of live music and expanding into new territories”.

Featured guests include the likes of Martin Elbourne, Adelaide’s Live Music Thinker In Residence; Avery McTaggart of The Windish Agency; Adam Ryan of The Great Escape; and Wonderlick Entertainment’s Stu MacQueen. Musitec managing director David Grice will also be on-hand to discuss the company’s next twelve months.

It’s not all panels and discussions, though – the very first day of the program, which also includes masterclasses, international speakers and networking events, will wrap up with a free showcase of the 2014 Robert Stigwood Artist Fellows at the nearby Jade Monkey.
