Neil Finn Announces Special Show With Gurrumul, Washington

Legendary New Zealand-bred, Aussie-adopted musician Neil Finn has revealed that he will be staging a very special once-off appearance this November, in conjunction with the Margaret River Gourmet Escape Weekend, to grace the region’s historic Sandalford Estate alongside fellow icon Gurrumul and stalwart alt-indie chanteuse Washington.

Sandalford Estate is renowned as one of Western Australia’s most awe-inspiring outdoor concert venues, simultaneously expansive yet intimate, and serves as a prime location for Finn to canvass his extensive back-catalogue of songs with the assistance of an acoustic guitar and an adoring audience. Expect to hear plenty of old favourites alongside newer material taken from releases such as acclaimed most recent effort Dizzy Heights, his first solo full-length since 2001.

Multi-ARIA Award-winner Gurrumul, of course, is all but a living national treasure, with the venerated troubadour opening himself up to a whole new generation of fans through his contemporary collaborations; for example, with the likes of Shepparton-bred hip-hop hero Briggs on recent single The Hunt.

Former Brissy songstress Megan Washington is also no stranger to big stages or mass praise, having picked up her own fair share of ARIA Awards over her storied career. Her newest album, There There, is due for release at the end of next week, on September 12, and has been a seemingly long time in the making, but we’re sure she’s just as – if not more – anxious to get those songs out into the world and into your ears as you are to hear them. By the time she takes the Sandalford Estate stage, you’ll have had a few months alone with her new work, which should give you plenty of time to get into a proper appreciative state come November.

All profits from the concert will be donated by Sandalford to Channel Seven’s Telethon Trust.

The evening with Neil Finn, with special guests Gurrumul and Megan Washington, will be held at Sandalford Estate on Saturday, November 22.
