The Sydney outfit kick off their Australian tour this week

Meteorically rising Sydneysiders Spookyland have become the newest signing for UK/Europe to renowned record label Play It Again Sam, earning them labelmate status alongside such esteemed acts as Editors, Pixies and fellow Aussies The Jezabels.

The signing comes pretty damn quickly after another high-profile signing for the band, which saw them join US label Canvasback a couple of weeks ago, opening the The Silly Fucking Thing hit-makers to the even greater opportunities that now lie before them, including a forthcoming jaunt across the States in October – including an appearance at the renowned CMJ Music Marathon, alongside several other Aussies – before hitting England and mainland Europe.

“We’re a quickened band by the upcoming tour,” frontman Marcus Gordon said in a statement. “To do our thing in the USA, Europe and the UK is surreal to us still... we love playing and we are easily persuaded by energy; new energy is something we’re always aching for.”

The four-piece are currently in the throes of their Rock And Roll Weakling tour in support of their also-named EP, which includes a stop at Brisbane’s impending BIGSOUND showcase and conference, with their next show coming this Friday night, September 5, at Adelaide’s Rocket Bar.
