Melburnian twins Jack and Pat Pierce — aka the Pierce Brothers — have announced that they will be marking their eagerly awaited return to Australian shores with an extensive national run of shows, their largest to date, dubbed the Northern Lights tour.

The sojourn, which is proudly presented by The Music, will see the Tallest Tree In Town crooners make a whopping twenty-six stops between the beginning of the tour — at Baha, in Rye, Victoria, on Thursday, September 4 — and its conclusion in early December, taking them through six states with nary a chance to pause for breath.

The brothers have just returned from a successful jaunt overseas, the tour is the icing on the cake of a year that saw the pair release their acclaimed EP The Night Tree, earning them a #21 debut on the ARIA charts and a #1 effort on the Carlton Dry Independent Music Charts — an effort that saw them consequently sell out five shows on their tour in support of the release.

Add in a performance in front of more than 10,000 punters in the Netherlands, sold-out performances in London, and becoming the second-highest-selling act at the Lowlands Music Festival's merch tent (outselling Snoop Dogg, First Aid Kit, Sam Smith, Janelle Monae and Royal Blood), and their independent sales figures for The Night Tree have cleared the 30,000 mark since its release at the end of May.

The impressive international showing included a didgeridoo-toting performance of Lorde's world-beating single Royals, in front of an obscene 1.5 million listeners, on renowned Dutch radio station 3FM, which goes a little something like this (warning — contains fun):

Tickets for Pierce Brothers' forthcoming Northern Lights tour are available now; the run of shows takes in appearances at a few high-profile festivals/events, including a slot at the Australasian World Music Expo, the BIGSOUND conference and showcase, Caloundra Music Festival and Gorgeous Fest.
