This will be incredible, or unbearable, or probably both

Community and The Hangover trilogy star Ken Jeong has been cast in the main role for an upcoming comedy film produced by WWE Studios alongside rasslin' veteran Hulk Hogan and the bafflingly enduring David Hasselhoff.

As Deadline reports, Jeong has joined up with co-producers Hyde Park Entertainment and WWE Studios for a film tentatively known as Untitled Celebrity Death Pool, in which he will play a hard-on-his-luck nightclub owner who owes crazy amounts of money to a loan shark, of whom he is sufficiently frightened to hatch a scheme to win a lucrative celebrity death pool by killing David Hasselhoff.

Yes, really.

Hasselhoff is set to cameo in the film (which he will also co-produce), as is long-time on-and-off-and-on-again WWE superstar Hulk Hogan, with a script penned by screenwriter Peter Hoare (Billy On The Street, Everybody Wants Head) and directed by Darren Grant (Diary Of A Mad Black Woman). It will be the most recent collaboration between WWE Studios and Hyde Park, which previously worked together on Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's comedy vehicle The Fall Guy last year.

Hoare confirmed the news in a gracious tweet today.

WWE made the leap to big-screen ventures back in 2002, backing its wrestlers in variably watchable feature-length efforts including The Scorpion KingSee No EvilThe Marine12 Rounds and the Leprechaun remake, featuring diminutive grappler Hornswoggle.

Though not a WWE Studios picture, Marvel's ridiculously successful Guardians Of The Galaxy has helped the sports-entertainment behemoth in a big way recently, as it has shamelessly capitalised on the starring role afforded to long-time employee Dave Bautista, known by the ring name Batista, as erudite warrior Drax The Destroyer, in an exceedingly rare case of a wrestler who isn't Dwayne Johnson being actually kind of decent in a movie.
