Paradise Music Festival Announces 2014 Line-Up

19 August 2014 | 9:57 am | Staff Writer

Year two will feature big guns such as Kirin J. Callinan, Oscar Key Sung, Crooked Colours + more!

The Paradise Music Festival is returning for its second year, and looks to outdo itself with casual aplomb for 2014, following up last year’s stellar roster of acts with an equally esteemed line-up this time around, led by indie crop-cream Kirin J Callinan, Oscar Key Sung and Crooked Colours.

The always confrontational Kirin J Callinan has done an excellent job as asserting himself as one of the most challenging, considered and outright bizarrely charming Aussie artists to have been active in the post-millennium era, netting up accolades everywhere from his peers to Pitchfork, which described last year’s album title-track Embracism as one of 2013’s “most riveting singles”.

Oscar Key Sung, known to most as one half of Oscar + Martin, is another artist whose instant impact on the national soundscape has been one worth watching, as his alt-R&B compositions continue to surprise and excite with their soulful melodies, dynamics-driven arrangements, wonky electro instrumentation and general sense of intrigue. One of the most capable young musicians we’ve got ambling about these shores. Get into it:

West Australian-bred electronic trio Crooked Colours have done a great job of further cementing Perth as a hotbed of futuristic contemporary creativity in the wake of their recently released first EP In Your Bones. Keep a special ear out for band-favourite (and soon-to-be your-favourite) track Keep Your Mouth For Lying when they hit the Paradise stage this November.

The line-up is rounded out by the no-less-excellent likes of Young Franco, Drunk Mums, Rat & Co, SILENTJAY, UV boi, LUCIANBLOMKAMP, The Sinking Teeth, Klo, Banoffee, friendships and many others – check the base of the article for the full list to set your eyes a’sparkle.

Paradise is making a special effort to set the right mood for their electronic-heavy line-up, boasting its own super-cush indoor nightclub on-site in addition to its roomy outdoor amphitheatre.

The 2014 Paradise Music Festival will be held from November 28-30 at the Lake Mountain Alpine Resort, near Marysville, and tickets are available now from $130 (soon to go up to $150 when first-round availability ends, so get cracking).
