6 August 2014 | 4:18 pm | Staff Writer

Who ISN'T coming to BIGSOUND?

With little over a month until Australia and the world’s music industry descend on Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley for BIGSOUND, the showcase and conference as bolstered its ranks considerably this afternoon.

Presented by theMusic.com.au, Australia’s premier music industry conference has added a huge selection (we’re talking, like, 60-odd) of expert speakers from around the world and finished off their BIGSOUND Live showcase line-up of 140 artists.

Amongst those confirmed to speak on panels across the week are artists including Megan Washington, Russell Morris, Shane Nicholson and Ball Park Music’s Sam Cromack. Label executives from all walks of the industry, such as Universal’s Michael Taylor, Future Classic’s Nathan McLay, EMI’s Mark Holland and international guest Darius Van Armen from Jagjaguar and Secretly Canadian, are also booked.

Artist managers such as Dan Biddle (The McClymonts) and Jodie Regan (Tame Impala) will share their insights alongside booking agents, media and more from around the world.

On the BIGSOUND Live front triple j Unearthed winners WAAX and The Furrs join the partying alongside fellow Aussies Saskwatch, The Love Junkies, Lunatics On Pogosticks, Little Odessa, Spookyland, Wax Witches and Blaq Carrie. Canadians Buckman Coe, Rob Moir and Jordan Klassen round out the bill.

Programmer Nick O’Byrne said today, “This last group of local and international speakers brings together some of the world’s leading thinkers in digital music and some of the most influential labels, managers and music writers. BIGSOUND will be a festival of ideas as much as it is a festival of music.”

BIGSOUND takes place Wednesday 10 to Friday 12 September, with the official artist showcases taking place across multiple venues on the nights of Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11.

Having become the biggest event on the industry calendar in recent years, early bird tickets close Friday 8 August. Tickets are available for purchase here.
