A Masquerade Ball For Robots Comes To NGV Australia

30 July 2014 | 2:44 pm | Staff Writer

Robots will be running loose in a new avant-garde exhibition fusing robotics, performance, art, sound and video.

Nostalgia For Obsolete Futures will showcase Dr Wade Marynowsky's unorthodox artistic practices and peculiar humour.

A self-described 'anti-disciplinary' artist, Marynowsky has broken traditional gallery conventions, with the exhibition featuring a number of experimental works, including The Hosts, a live meet and greet between the visitors and several socially competent programmed robots.

The free exhibition runs from 22 Aug - 19 Oct at Ian Potter Centre, NGV Studio.
