We try to make sense of the exhaustion-induced delirium

More Splendour In The Grass More Splendour In The Grass

Now that the cars are packed and planes are filling up with homebound punters – some a little worse for wear - we can start to process the absolutely amazing weekend that Splendour In The Grass 2014 provided. All pics by Peter Sharp.

Whether you chose to make the trip to North Byron Parklands for the three-day event or lived vicariously via social media that thrust envy-levels into overload, there was so much going on across numerous states and various sideshows across the country that no doubt you missed some of the action.

Luckily, we were there to capture the best moments, and you can relive the magic right here.

Day One

As the masses arrived onsite and got their bearings, Kelis brought the sass, Interpol excelled and Outkast lived up to the hype surrounding their reunion and only Australian show. Check out all the action here from day one right here.

Day Two

Day two may have been one of the greatest in the festival's history. City & Colour and Foals (pictured) stepped up and made worthy headliner replacements, while some other acts fell short. Find out who else excelled and those who didn't make the cut here.

Day Three

It's usually day three that things get a little whacky, as thus we saw nightmare-inducing inflatable sharks, tent climbing and nudity, along with stand out performances from Lily Allen — who found herself at the wrong end of the law with a fake arrest at Gold Coast airport - and Jungle. Climb aboard the moss buss.

Sideshows

Okay, so you couldn't make the event, and have been feeling the pain all weekend? The fine people at Splendour managed to hook up some pretty decent sideshows around the county the days around the festival. Here's some of our favourites:

Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter

Metronomy + Circa Waves @ Astor Theatre, WA

"As was the standard for the evening, the lightshow accompanying the music added extra personality to each track, and phone cameras were out all over the place simply trying to capture some of the beauty of the scene."

Group Love + Mikhael Paskalev @ Metro Theatre, NSW

"School Boy and Tongue Tied showcased some familiar Grouplove territory, with crazy instrumentals and ridiculously powerful vocals from both Zucconi and Hooper, while covers of Beyonce’s Drunk In Love and The Beastie Boys' Sabotage had the crowd begging for more."

Sky Ferreira + Eves @ The Prince, VIC

"A few slurry introductions and awkward conversations with the drunken crowd have the band starting without her and at one stage Ferreira even nonchalantly admits she has to start the song over."

Mikhael Paskalev @ Adelaide Uni Bar

"Paskalev’s unpredictability carried over to his music and made for intriguing listening. He, accompanied by his backing band, is an eclectic, yet difficult act to illustrate through words, making him a special musician and could possibly be one of the, if not the most underrated artists within this genre."
