Two names confirmed

The first pieces of new festival Beyond The Valley’s line-up have fallen in to place today with the leak of two artists confirmed for the event.

Taking place at Victoria’s Phillip Island over the New Year period, theMusic.com.au can reveal that Queens, New York rapper Action Bronson and Canberra EDM duo Peking Duk will both be on the camping festival’s bill. Their names have been confirmed by reliable sources.

Bronson’s appearance will be particularly anticipated given he cancelled Groovin The Moo festival dates and surrounding club shows earlier this year. He has been hot property since appearing on Eminem’s tour.

It’s also been a breakout year for Peking Duk, who had a record-making stint at #1 on the club charts earlier this year. Their track High, featuring Nicole Millar, has become a festival anthem and their set is one of the more anticipated of this weekend’s Splendour In The Grass.

The Beyond The Valley festival was officially announced early July and is being run by a collective of Melbourne promoters.

It is backed financially by veteran promoter Andrew McManus.

Co-promoter Nick Grecco told theMusic.com.au that they’re focused on the camping experience in their first year and the 12,000 capacity event is well prepared to deal with weather that has, in the past, lashed the island.

“The weather came into consideration,” Grecco said, “but we've taken extensive measures into place to make sure that any of the weather that has plagued Phillip Island in the past will not have the same effect on us… [We have] back-up plans in terms of generators failing, big wind-breakers to ensure that those winds that have hurt the site in the past don't hurt the site.”

He added, “We've got a really strong focus is VIP camping, which is an extra offering – fully furnished deluxe tents, fully powered, security, mini bars, private toilets, showers. Kind of like a pop-up up hotel, it's even got a concierge.

It's even going to have a world first – that we know of – it's going to have a hangover spa… so after a night of hitting it too hard you can hang out in the spa and get ready to do it all again.”

The festival will take place over Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 December. Ticket details have not yet been released.
