More Dwight Yoakam More Dwight Yoakam

Warner Bros. Records/Reprise has announced a massive coup in the form of its brand new signing of two-time Grammy Award winner and globally renowned country superstar Dwight Yoakam.

The announcement comes at a particularly exciting time in Yoakam’s storied career, with his recently released cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Who’ll Stop The Rain doing great business on digital channels for the veteran troubadour, and his debut appearance on US network CBS’ Stephen King adaptation Under The Dome – on which he’ll star as barbershop owner Lyle Chumley – having very freshly aired in the States (Aussies will have to wait a little longer, sadly).

Since breaking through to popular attention in the mid-1980s, Yoakam has sold more than 25 million albums around the world, earning 12 Gold and nine Platinum or multi-Platinum records along the way.

He’s a seasoned performer on-screen, too, with credits in more than 35 films to his name, as well as appearances on small-screen shows such as King Of The Hill and Wilfred, and as a performer on variety programs such as The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! And The Daily Show.

His distinction hasn’t faded with time, however; the 21-time Grammy nominee took out the Artist Of The Year award at last year’s Americana Music Honors & Awards in recognition of his acclaimed LP 3 Pears.
