The Highest Selling Australian Albums & Singles Of 2014 So Far

Australian rock legends INXS have the highest selling album of the year so far, with 35 local albums and 24 local singles in the mid-year top 100s.

Released this morning by ARIA, INXS’ The Very Best enjoyed a strong run thanks to the TV mini-series Never Tear Us Apart. The band saw six albums chart after it aired.

In the Singles Chart the highest Australian single of the year so far is Sheppard’s Geronimo – which is third overall behind the top selling Pharrell’s Happy and A Great Big World featuring Christina Aguilera’s Say Something.

The tally of 35 local albums in the top 100 is up on the 2013 chart, where 27 albums made the top 100, as are the 24 local singles, 13 made the 2013 chart. Australians have held the number one spot on the ARIA Singles Chart for 11 weeks of the 26 in this period, while locals have topped the Albums chart for 11 weeks.
