Splendour Reveals Last-Minute Line-Up Changes

Splendour In The Grass has announced several last-minute changes to their line-up following news from the UK that the previously booked Two Door Cinema Club would no longer be able to make the trip to Australia.

Expressing their disappointment in a statement issued to Splendour, Two Door explained that band member Alex Trimble had been hospitalised, and thus the group would have to cancel their scheduled appearance at Splendour, which was to be their only Australian show this year.

“It is with a heavy heart that we are going to need to cancel our upcoming trip to Australia for Splendour in the Grass,” the band wrote. “Alex collapsed at Seattle airport on the way to London and has been hospitalised with a chronic stomach complaint. We are devastated to have to cancel this show that we were so looking forward to. We can only apologise and hope for your understanding at this time. Love TDCC x”

As a result of Two Door’s withdrawal, Splendour has also announced the addition of cult UK dance-indie-math-pop stalwarts Foals, who step in as “eleventh-hour saviours” by kindly taking their weekend off their current European festival headline tour to stop in and say g’day.

In addition, the timetable shift means that the Dallas Green-centric City & Colour will step in to the headline slot on Saturday, July 26, to close out the day’s proceedings at the Amphitheatre Stage.

Aussies love them some City & Colour – Green’s crowds have been growing steadily since he first brought his acoustically steeped solo project Down Under four years ago, from 10,000 on his first visit to 30,000 in December last year – but if you had specifically bought a Splendour ticket to see Two Door Cinema Club (ie a single-day pass for the Saturday), refunds will be available via Moshtix until 5pm on Monday, July 21.
