More Bill Bailey More Bill Bailey

Beloved British comedian Bill Bailey will return Down Under for a run of headline performances of new live show Limboland in October and November.

Kicking off in Perth on October 1, the Limboland tour will take Bailey to an extensive number of destinations all around the country including regional hubs such as Cairns and Townsville in far north Queensland as well as usual capital-city spots in the likes of Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney on the way to wrapping up at Launceston’s Princess Theatre on Friday, November 14.

Sydney’s show, about midway through the tour, on October 16, takes on an extra-special dimension, forming part of the just-announced line-up for the city’s wider Just For Laughs Festival, alongside the likes of Flight Of The Conchords’ Rhys Darby and the Grammy-nominated stand-up and creator of now-axed FX series Legit, Jim Gaffigan.

Bailey, who endeared himself to antipodean audiences primarily through his work on the darkly comic Black Books and 40-minute serve of knowledge-cocaine that is QI, tackles typically left-field topics in Limboland, which is pegged as a rumination on “the gap between how we imagine our lives to be and how they really are”.

As renowned for his acting and musical talents as he is his comedy – with his two-part documentary series Bill Bailey’s Jungle Hero, screened on SBS in 2013, picking up several prizes at the recent 2014 Royal Television Society West Of England Awards – Bailey will naturally pepper into the mix his trademark storytelling style, as well as a selection of songs, from a Baileyfied protest song to Happy Birthday with a downbeat twist.

Tickets for Bill Bailey’s Limboland tour go on sale at 9am local time on Monday, July 21, via a variety of outlets.
