The gigs will be the group's first headline outings for 2014

Victorian pop four-piece Twerps have announced they will make their debut headline appearances for the year in Sydney and Melbourne next month, with a pair of shows lined up to celebrate the release of their new EP, Underlay.

The more than half-year delay on making the outing comes after six months of hectic activity that saw the band take on the US for the third time, step out at Meredith and Laneway festivals, go on tour with renowned troubadour Mac De Marco, and plug away at their second full-length LP.

Before we see that, though, the Underlay record is all ready to go in digital and physical limited-edition 12” vinyl and cassette formats, and marks the first new work from Twerps since their popular 2012 single Work It Out/He's In Stock.

Twerps will launch the EP at Red Rattler in Sydney on Saturday, August 23, alongside Bed Wettin' Bad Boys and The Friendsters before heading down Melbourne way for a performance at the Abbotsford Convent's Shadow Electric on Friday, August 29, with support from Chapter labelmates Fabulous Diamonds and rising fellow Melburnians The Shifters.
