Triple J Lose Ground In Latest Radio Ratings

Youth broadcaster triple j have posted weekday rating losses in four of the five metro markets this morning as the latest radio ratings were released.

With Adelaide being the only market where triple j’s midweek figures enjoyed a boost, other key notes from this ratings period include another fall for KIIS 106.5’s golden breakfast duo, Kyle & Jackie-O.

SYDNEY

WSFM’s breakfast duo Jonesy & Amanda gained 1.5 percentage points in their slot to help boost the station’s overall weekday share by 1.1 to 10.6 percent – the biggest share of the commercial stations. KIIS 106.5 dropped half a point during breakfast to slip to 9 percent, with the station’s overall weekday down 0.6 points to 8.2 percent.

Triple j was largely steady – losing 0.1 to hold a 5.9 percent weekday share. Their main fluctuations came in the 10-17 demographic (up to 10.5 percent with 3.6 jump) and the 18-24 (down to 13.8 percent with 4.3 fall).

MELBOURNE

Triple M continued their weekday growth with 0.9 point jump to 7.9 percent, putting them ahead of stations like GOLD, Nova, MIX 101.1 and FOXFM. They gained across the timeslots (except evenings) with the most notable jump being a 1.4 point breakfast rise to 8.5 percent.

There was a 0.6 point fall for triple j, who now hold 4.2 percent of the weekday share – equal with their weekends.

BRISBANE

97.3 FM extend their lead in the weekday market with a 1.3 point jump to 15.3 percent, pulling ahead of Nova 106.9 who drop 1.4 points to 12 percent. 97.3 also hold breakfast with a 1.3 point jump to 14.3 percent, ahead of ABC 612’s 13.2 percent share.

Triple j lost 0.8 points to hold a 7.1 percent share in one of their stronger markets, with their second consecutive ratings fall in Brisbane coming across the timeslots and the 18-24 demographic (down 6.7 to 13.9 percent) in particular.

PERTH

Triple j take another significant hit in the market that gave them their historic first ratings win last year, dropping a further 2.3 points to hold a 9.7 percent weekday share. It’s the first time they’ve polled below a double-figure share in 2014 and drops them from second to fifth in the region.

They took hits across the timeslots and demographics, with 3 point losses in the morning and afternoon periods (now 8.5 percent and 10 percent shares respectively) and a 5.9 point drop in the 18-24 year old demo, where they still lead with a 23.8 percent share,

MIX 94.5 remain the market’s midweek leaders, with a 0.6 point growth pushing them to a 15.5 percent share.

ADELAIDE

MIX 102.3’s weekday lead remains intact despite a 0.6 point drop to 16.5 percent, as their closest rivals NOVA 91.9 and FIVEaa fall away. ABC 891 lead the AM sector and are second overall on weekdays with a 10.9 percent share.

The only gain for triple j around the country is posted here, with a 1.1 point jump to 8.1 percent posted.
