The Celebrity Theatresports Charity Challenge Is Returning

The Celebrity Theatresports charity challenge is returning to Sydney for 2014.

With a performance regiment filled with Logie winners, AFI winners, an Olympic gold medallist, Green Room-award winners, an award-winning Indigenous playwright, an OAM, and a bunch of comedians, the fundraising tournament, designed to aid youth non-profit organisation CanTeen, is headed to Sydney's Enmore Theatre next month.

Kicking off at 8pm on Saturday, August 9, the Celebrity Theatresports challenge pits the country's brightest comedic minds against each other in an effort to raise money for young people afflicted by cancer, and this year sports renowned personalities such as former RocKwiz host and Aussie face of Eurovision Julia Zemiro, who will step into hosting duties, The Sapphires' Shari Sebbens, Leah Purcell (Redfern Now, McLeod's Daughters), Logie-winning actress Bonnie Sveen (Home And Away), Olympian Matthew Mitcham, musician Little Pattie, The Lion King and Star Wars actor Jay Laga'aia, Ian Stenlake of Sea Patrol and Oklahoma! fame, Bad Boy Bubby's Nicholas Hope, Rebecca De Unamuno (Slideshow), veteran ABC presenter Adam Spencer, Play School's Benita Collings, Jioji Ravula from Housos, Slideshow's Toby Truslove, Daniel Cordeaux (Thank God You're Here), Vashti Hughes (Mums In), Gods Of Wheat Street's Bruce Carter, and Channel Ten newscaster Angela Bishop.

Backing up that breath-stealing contingent will be veteran improv comedians Ewan Campbell, Lisa Ricketts, Michael Gregory, David Callan, Jon Williams, Bryce Halliday and Jim Fishwick.

The evening is directed by Theatresports legend Lyn Pierse, and, with a good cause at its heart, the Celebrity Theatresports 2014 tournament promises to be a feel-good affair on several fronts.

Tickets are up for purchase now, with entry costing from $28 to $65. Family passes are available.
