Author Andrez Bergen's been busy, and invites you to see the fruits of his labour

Andrez Bergen has two new goodies to launch: his new novel, Depth Charging Ice Planet Goth, at Brunswick Bound, August 13; and a new graphic novel, Tobacco-Stained Mountain Goat, at Classic Comics, August 17.

Tobacco-Stained Mountain Goat was first published in 2011, but the near-future noir/dystopian story set in Melbourne has now been given the visual art treatment, with new plot twists to boot.

With guns, intrigue, kidnappings, conspiracy and all sorts of chaos, the story takes cues from the likes of Raymond Chandler, Dashiell Hammett, Neville Shute, Philip K Dick, Ray Bradbury and Graham Greene, as well as filmmakers Satoshi Kon, Carol Reed, John Huston and Akira Kurosawa.

The comic book adaptation will touch on similar territory but will also include material from Bergen's ulterior books as well as behind-the-scene bits and pin-ups by other artists.
