Has The US Media Just Started An Iggy/Lorde Beef?

C’mon – there’s already enough Aussie/Kiwi rivalry floating around!

More Iggy Azalea More Iggy Azalea

A new music beef could have the potential to eventuate between Aussie rapper Iggy Azalea and New Zealand singing sensation Lorde, if the US media have anything to do with it.

In this week's Billboard cover story article, Azalea was asked about Lorde's performance alongside Nirvana at the recent Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony, in tribute to the band's late frontman Kurt Cobain.

"Nothing against her, but I think when you're doing a tribute to someone that's dead, generally it should be the person's peer," Azalea said in the piece, continuing that she didn't think the performance was “appropriate”.

"Lorde is not Kurt Cobain's peer. No matter if she killed the performance or not, I just don't think it's appropriate."

Several media outlets have now gone with the story, seemingly pitting the two young stars, who have both enjoyed huge success in the last year, against each other.

Kinda seems like they're making something out of nothing to us but we'll see how this one pans out, given both artists haven't had issues in the past voicing their opinions, particularly through their respective Twitter accounts.

Neither Azalea or Lorde have said anything on the fuss as yet.
