The crew from Sonic Masala are plating up an afternoon of tastiness for the faithful this June

Brisbane DIY label Sonic Masala Records is set to take its grassroots operation to the next level with the announcement today of Sonic Masala Fest, a day-long celebration of the local scene, with special appearances from a couple of interstate friends.

The event will take place at Greenslopes Bowls Glub on Saturday, June 21, and at the core of the day's festivities will be the Sonic Masala stable of artists, featuring Brissie fixtures such as Roku Music, Gazar Strips, Tape/Off (album launch), Cobwebbs (album launch) and Ghost Notes.

They'll be joined by fellow local acts new and old alike, with Nana Vigilante, Brainbeau, Barge With An Antenna On It, Turnpike, The Stress Of Leisure, Seaplane, The Steady As She Goes (album launch), Tiny Migrants, Pale Earth, El Motel and Andrew Tuttle lending their talents to the upstart event, while interstate acts Narrow Lands and Spartak will be heading north from Sydney and Canberra respectively to make sure they're a part of the good times.

As an added bonus for local purists, there are rumblings of a potential – not promised – showing from the stalwart Scul Hazzards.
