A 'New Classic' from Australia?

More Iggy Azalea More Iggy Azalea

Mullumbimby-raised, American-based rapper Iggy Azalea has entered the UK albums chart in the top five this week, with her debut album The New Classic sizing up as a world conqueror.

Azalea's album was the top album debut of the week and will chart in America and Australia later this week. In America, where the album topped the iTunes download chart last week (it's currently at two), the album is expected to be one of the week's top debuts this Friday (Australian time).

In our review of the album we wrote, “It marks Azalea's territory as more than just a hype machine and shows she's a force to be reckoned with in modern hip hop.”

Azalea's album single Fancy, which features Charli XCX, is at 11 in the UK singles chart.

Meanwhile Melbourne's Vance Joy is running around Europe with his track Riptide. While it's slowing in the UK (down to 70 this week, having spent 25 weeks in the top 100) he's climbing the airplay charts in Germany, Austria and Slovakia, all countries where he's had top ten results. Last week it topped the airplay chart in Germany and went top ten on the Irish single charts.

Kylie Minogue's Kiss Me Once is currently at 57 in the UK album chart after six weeks.
