Brisbane indie-pop breakouts Sheppard are fighting to hold the number one spot on the ARIA Singles Chart for the third week in a row, according to the latest midweek figures.

The independent band, whose rise has been well documented on theMusic.com.au, turned a few mainstream heads when they knocked off Pharrell Williams to hit the top of the chart with Geronimo, and turned even more when they followed it up last weekend.

Today the track, released through the independent team of Chugg Music/MGM, has gone platinum, giving them over 70,000 sales scans.

Sandwiched between the Easter weekend and the ANZAC public holiday, it hasn't been a huge week for releases and so there will likely be a bit of a status quo on the charts. The short week makes it harder than usual to predict from midweek charts, but Geronimo is in a good position to hold onto its top spot. It's also still top of the iTunes charts this week.

Sheppard were also announced this week as the national Keith Urban support.

Regulars from recent weeks – local releases like Sia's Chandelier, Peking Duk featuring Nicole Millar's High, Jessica Mauboy's Never Be The Same and internationals including Williams' Happy and Calvis Harris' Summer – are hovering around the top five but the big movers are further down.

Currently 16, Rita Ora's I Will Never Let You Down is tracking well, while Aussie export's Iggy Azalea's Fancy, will push into the top 20 from 23.

There's a few new debuts coming however, with Jason Derulo featuring Snoop Dogg's Wiggle, OneRepublic's Love Runs Out, Lana Del Rey's West Coast and David Guetta & Showtek featuring Darwin vocalist Vassy's Bad all looking at the top 50.

It's much quieter over at the ARIA Albums Chart through, with midweek figures showing that Paolo Nutini's Caustic Love the only real contender for a top ten impact.

INXS's steady sales will make them a favourite to reclaim the top spot from Chet Faker's #1 debut Built On Glass, which will likely have a sharp decline in sales in its second week.

The soundtrack to Frozen is also in the mix, while the second half of the week will be crucial to see if Russell Morris' record-breaking Van Diemen's Land can hold as steady as its predecessor Sharkmouth did.

The movers on the albums chart include Jessica Mauboy's Beautiful and Cliff Richard's The Fabulous Rock 'N' Roll Songbook, while there are modest boosts for Bastille's Bad Blood, Imagine Dragons' Night Visions and Kylie Minogue's Kiss Me Once.
