Australian rapper Iggy Azalea is enjoying a continued wave of overseas success, with the artist's debut album The New Classic currently sitting at number one in the US iTunes Albums Chart.

The record - released last Monday overseas and here in Australian this Friday - is expected to be one of big debuts when the Billboard figures are released Thursday in the US (Friday here). The New Classic is also sitting at number two in Canada's iTunes Albums Chart and three in the UK's. Through pre-order sales, the LP is at 20 in the local iTunes Albums Chart.

Azalea's latest single, the Charli XCX collaboration Fancy is also expected to jump into this week's ARIA Singles Chart top 20. It was at 23 in last week's figures and has just gone gold, achieving 35,000 sales.

It has been something of a whirlwind few years for the rapper, who was born in the New South Wales regional town of Mullumbimby. Her breakout tracks Work and Bounce brought her to prominence overseas, along with her association and work with hip hop artist T.I. who features on one of her singles Change Your Life. It wasn't long until Azalea was being hand-picked by Beyoncé to support her during her Aussie stop-over of The Mrs Carter World Tour last year.
