Event moved to Sydney last year

Sydney music industry conference Sound Summit will not hold an event in 2014, with organisers advising today that they are looking to revise the festival's business plan.

Sound Summit moved to Sydney last year after struggling to remain viable in Newcastle. Launched in 2000, it split from the This Is Not Art [TINA] program, which it had been a part of, in 2011.

An initiative of MusicNSW, who became involved in 2006, with state and federal government support, a statement today said, “The ongoing financial viability of the festival has been a major factor in this decision, with Sound Summit currently seeking out a range of funding and partnership options within a revised business plan.”

Co-Director Liza Harvey will take stock of the festival's current state with input from past participants and the wider industry while satellite events will be held throughout the year under the Sound Summit banner.
