Fan-favourite purveyors of joyous madness The Good China are taking their final bow together, but not before leaving fans with one final gift to sweeten their bittersweet goodbye.

It's a sad day for lovers of fun and ebullient chaos, as cult-favourite Melburnian octet The Good China have announced that they are pulling the pin on their six-year career together.

With new interests, opportunities and callings tugging away at the band's fabric of cohesion, The Good China have done what precious few others can by calling it a day while there are still things about their collective pursuit worth commemorating. They'll be celebrating(?) their cessation with a pair of send-off shows - the first this month, at Richmond's Great Britain Hotel, with their swansong performance to go down in June at the Northcote Social Club.

But, before they bow out officially, The Good China are gracing us with two new tracks to love all the way to oblivion: Your Ancestors Were Dinosaurs and What You Learnt From The Self Help Section - both of which will be made available for free download, as will the very special 8-bit chiptune versions the band so kindly put together to accompany the songs.

Yes, all good things must come to an end, and it always hurts when they do, but The Good China are doing their damnedest to cushion the blow the only way they know how - with a whole lot of joy.
