Reformed Emo Legends Knapsack To Headline Poison City Weekender

Another year, another massive coup for the Melbourne festival.

Attending the Poison City Weekender is fast becoming a no-brainer for fans of a certain strain of punk rock littered all around the country, and when they keep pulling out line ups like the ones they've put together the past couple of years, it's not hard to see why.

Somehow the team behind the event have secured the services of recently reformed '90s emo masters Knapsack, who will visit Australia for the very first time as a part of Weekender this August. The band released three great records in the mid-'90s before splitting in the year 2000 and making Aussie fans real sad they never got to see them play. That's all about to change.

Joining Knapsack on the bill is fellow American act Pity Sex, who released a cracking debut record in last year's Feast Of Love, seeing them slam out some of the best alt-rock/pop-punk (in a good way) we heard on a record last year.

The Aussie line up is bullshit good as well, we won't crap on about them too much because every band on this bill has its merits and we don't wanna leave anyone out – plus we tend to sing their praises a fair bit anyway. So we'll just tell you those bands are: The Bennies, Luca Brasi, Harmony, The Gifthorse, Clowns, Wil Wagner, Grim Fandango, Lincoln Le Fevre, Paper Arms, Postblue, Hoodlum Shouts, Toy Boats, Fear Like Us, Infinite Void, High Tension, Apart From This, Ceres, Tape/Off, Mere Women, Freak Wave, Roku Music, Stockades, Initials, Ted Danson With Wolves, Death Mountain, Regrets.

So fucking good. Unsuprising given the label have signed some of the country's best punk rock bands over the past couple of years.

The show dates are as follows:

Friday 22 August – Corner Hotel
Saturday 23 August – John Curtin & Public Bar
Sunday 24 August – Reverence Hotel
