It's time for a solo record

You Am I guitarist Davey Lane is prepared to hand-make a guitar for you from scratch in line with a new crowdfunding effort for his solo record.

Lane, who released an EP last year, will be in the studio this month to record his debut solo record and today launched a fundraising drive through Pozible to make it happen.

Along with the regular rewards of signed CDs and merch boxes, Lane is offering the chance to re-record a song on the upcoming album personalised for you, two-hour private studio sessions, the original painting from the cover of The Pictures' (another Davey Lane band) album Pieces Of Eight and the big one – the guitar.

It'll cost you $8,000 and there's only one available (first in, best dressed) but you can help design the guitar and Davey will build it for you with the luthiers at Clingan Guitar Tone.

In total Lane wants to raise $15,000, a modest amount considering some other crowdfunding efforts and one he should achieve in the next 30 days. All funds will go towards the mixing and mastering of the album, which will be released through his own label – Field Recordings.
