Sheppard, Peking Duk and Sia – go you good things!

More Pharrell Williams More Pharrell Williams

Pharrell Williams' bid to have the longest running number one single in the history of Australian music may come under threat this week from some of our very own local acts, according to midweek figures.

Williams' Happy has spent 12 weeks at number one and is equal with Eminem's Lose Yourself as the record holder for tracks released this century, but the song's sights are on bigger things. The Beatles' Hey Jude and Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise have both spent 13 weeks at #1 while the overall record is held by ABBA's 1976 pre-ARIA smash Fernando, which enjoyed 14 weeks at #1.

The top spot, which Happy reclaimed from Aussie boy band 5 Seconds Of Summer this week, is under threat from Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne's Rather Be – but they're all being chased down by a few Aussies.

Peking Duk and their track with Nicole Millar, High, is currently seventh but is enjoying a very strong week of sales so far. It's sitting second on the iTunes chart, updated on the hour and therefore a good indication of instant trends. Midweeks are expecting it to cause trouble in the top five.

The other big mover is Chugg-signed and managed Brisbane band Sheppard, who saw their infectious Geronimo track reach #1 on the iTunes Singles Chart yesterday – and it's held that position today. Midweek figures indicate that the sales could push them into the top five (up from 18), but there's no telling how high they could go if sales remains consistent – or increase.

Both of those efforts are keeping the limelight off Sia's Chandelier, which is also selling well again and rising (just not as quickly) from its position of ten to sit somewhere outside the top five. It's third on the iTunes chart today.

360's new single Live It Up is a hope to debut in the top 30, ahead of Glass Aminals' Gooey. Rita Ora's I Will Never Let You Down will probably be the top debut of the week.
