It's been a big couple of years for local hip hop artist Seth Sentry and it looks like his great run will continue in 2014, with his debut album achieving gold status.

This Was Tomorrow, released late in 2012, has sold 35,000 copies, the news of which was broken to Sentry ahead of a show the rapper played last night in Sydney.

"What the heck? I am completely blown away by this. Thank you so much to everyone involved and of course the lords that actually went out and bought the album," the Melbourne MC said of the news.

This Was Tomorrow was released independently and debuted at number six on the ARIA Albums Chart. It spawned hits including Dear Science and Float Away.
