ON THE ROAD

Alternative electro singer Chela has named a national tour for this month and next. The artist is coming off the back off an impressive SXSW run. Read on.

Folk/rock/blues singer-songwriter Kim Churchill will embark on an extensive tour over the coming months. These shows will kick-off after his appearance at Bluesfest later this month. Details.

Perth punks The Decline will take their latest EP out on the road this May. The release, Can I Borrow A Feeling? drops on Friday 18 April through Pee Records. More.

EYE ON THE CHARTS

Sia held onto the top spot in the top 20 singles through independent distribution chart this week, with her latest hit Chandelier (Monkey Puzzle/Inertia). Brisbane indies Sheppard though are hot on her heels - their new single Geronimo (Independent/MGM) debuted at two, following on from an impressive entry into the ARIA charts this past week.

This pushed alternative crooner Chet Faker down to three with his current chart mainstay Talk Is Cheap (Future Classic/Independent), while his collaboration with Flume, Drop The Game (Future Classic/Independnt) moved down to fifth. Brisbane pop crew Ball Park Music debuted with their new single Teenager Pie (Stop Start Music/Inertia) in at 10.

Over to the albums and, once again, John Butler Trio were number one with Flesh & Blood (Jarrah/MGM). Chet Faker's Thinking In Textures (Opulent/Inertia) bumped up to two, pushing The Jezabels' latest, The Brink, down to three.

Melbourne-based electro dance act Opiou scored the only album debut of the week with his new LP Meraki (Slurp Music/Independent) entering in at four.

Local indie pop outfit Nova & The Experience have scored themselves a two month residency at Sydney venue Marble Bar. They were crowned the winners of the venue's DISCOVERED comp last week. More.

A few more Aussies have been added to the upcoming The Great Escape festival in the UK. Sheppard, Sticky Fingers, Calling All Cars and Kate Miller-Heidke will all perform at the event next month. Read on.

Sydney-based soul alternative Milan has been named for the upcoming neo-soul, hip hop and jazz event SoulFest. The singer also recently dropped a NSFW video for her latest track Promises, which you can see here.

The Essendon Record and CD Fair will take place on Sunday 13 April at the Ukranian House on Russell Street, Essendon in conjunction with the upcoming Record Store Day. Over 70,000 records and 10,000 cds and other music memorabilia will be on display.
