A new location has been suggested.

The Adelaide instalment of this year's Soundwave Festival has apparently gone over the 110 decibel limit for over 70 percent of its duration this year, forcing organisers to forfeit the $10,000 they used as bond to secure the event in its Bonython Park location.

Five of the festival's stages were apparently over the 110dB limit by 25 percent, 57 percent, 70 percent and nine percent respectively.

Speaking to the ABC's 891 Breakfast program in Adelaide this morning, Councillor David Plumridge said the Adelaide Council doesn't want to scare festivals away from Adelaide and has suggested an alternative location where the noise may affect fewer people and, as a result, draw fewer complaints.

“We want to see these bands come to Adelaide and we understand many people like to go to the concerts and enjoy them,” he said.

“We've established a new events space in the western parklands beside the Adelaide High School that's fairly well away from a lot of people there. We would encourage these kinds of events to go out there.”
