Gasometer Set To Return To Live Music Under New Owners

Melbourne's Gasometer is set to re-open as a music venue after being taken over by experienced pub operators.

The Collingwood venue was put on the market last year but struggled to find a buyer. After the price was reduced to $310,000 in October it entered administration in November and closed.

Today Fairfax's Sticky Fingers column has reported that a partnership between Clinton Fisher, the operator of Brunswick's Retreat, and Daniel Caneva and Shan Vanderwert (once a member of Dallas Crane), operators of Coburg's The Post Office Hotel, have take control of the room.

Fisher has not yet returned theMusic.com.au's call this afternoon.

Set to re-open Thursday 24 April, renovations are ongoing and will see a new entry to the 350-capacity bandroom.

A private function room, that could hold smaller shows, is also being refurbished in the pub's upstairs level.
