The quartet call it a day after three years.

Brisbane all-girl four-piece Go Violets have announced they are calling it a day after playing two final hometown shows, closing the curtain on three years of great guitar pop.

In their short time together, the band released a couple of well-received singles in Josie and Wanted, both of which appeared on their Heart Slice EP, released through Create/Control last year.

They also made a most triumphant cameo in the Jeremy Neale song In Stranger Times, as well as the, still utterly brilliant, film clip.

The band gave thanks to everyone who helped them in their journey over the past few years in a parting statement on their Facebook page, but did not give a reason for the decision to part ways.

“We're sad to announce that after an amazing three year journey, Go Violets is coming to a close.

“We are incredibly grateful for the opportunities that we have been given to make friends, meet and discover new bands, and travel the country. We'd like to thank our friends, family and fans who have encouraged and supported us along the way, especially in the Brisbane community. We will all be continuing with our own artistic endeavors so stay tuned.”

The band's penultimate show will take place next weekend with an all-ages show to be announced in the near future. The band were working on new material with John and Patience of fellow Brisbane band The Grates as recently as late-January, there is no word as to whether a posthumous release will see the light of day.
