Ben Harper Teams Up With His Mother For New Album

Soulful blues and folk stalwart Ben Harper has teamed with his mother Ellen Harper - a multi-instrumentalist in her own right - for a new album, titled Childhood Home.

The unique concept of the ten-track album is a reflection on the pair's family life; Ben's musical upbringing and his love for many different instruments and genres was heavily encouraged by Ellen, who was a single parent

“Without that upbringing, I don't think I'd be doing what I do,” Ben had previously said about his musical childhood.

It seems the Harpers truly are a musical family - Ben's maternal grandparents established The Folk Music Center and Museum in Claremont, California in 1958.

Here is the album's tracklist and cover art:

1. A House Is a Home
2. City of Dreams
3. Born to Love You
4. Heavyhearted World
5. Farmer's Daughter
6. Memories of Gold
7. Altar of Love
8. Break Your Heat
9. Learn It All Again Tomorrow
10. How Could We Not Believe

Childhood Home is out via Prestige Folklore on Friday 2 May just in time for Mother's Day.
