Whitey's Crowd Funded Album Set For Global Label Deal

The staunchly independent UK muso is in "negotiation"

UK indie dance artist Whitey (Nathan Joseph White) has informed fans that his crowd funded Bare Bones project now looks set to be distributed through an international label. The potential deal has necessitated a postponement of pledge-makers receiving their copies, which White will personally mail out.

Over a year ago, the staunchly independent White created a fund-raising page through Kickstarter to pre-order his latest album to enable him to self-distribute Bare Bones directly to fans himself.

But after much delay, White has reached out to those who pledged funds to reveal he has "been involved in long term negotiation with a classic worldwide label to step in and push this album globally."

White expressed concern that had he gone ahead with just the self-distribution route he would then have to "sit back watching the torrents build' as has happened to him in the past. He added, "I've done something similar five times before, this time I want to see an impact proportionate to the sweat and blood that goes into the process."

White has been critical of the modern music industry and most recently lashed out at a British production company who requested his music for syncing but didn't want to pay for the privelege. His statement went viral.

Details are promised to be delivered soon, along with a teaser for Bare Bones: "Until negotiations are concluded and in place then I cannot release a teaser etc as this may harm the process. I'm of course hoping to do an album teaser once the process is complete, and at that point I will also be able to clarify a release schedule for this album."

White's most recent new music was a Lou Reed cover he recorded directly after the artist's death last year. Listen to his version of Waves Of Fear here:
