Twice.

More Gwar More Gwar

An Australian-based, Queen-supporting organisation has attacked Soundwave band Gwar after they 'killed' Prime Minister Tony Abbott on stage during last weekend's sets.

Australians For Constitutional Monarchy [ACM] – of which Prime Minister Abbott was previously a Director – issued a statement, describing Gwar's performances as a “gross abuse of hospitality”.

“This act – an extraordinary breach of good behaviour and standards – is particularly offensive coming from visitors, who have been extended Australian hospitality,” ACM's Executive Director Jai Martinkovits said.

The most notable part of their set was when the band decapitated Abbott – in both Brisbane and Sydney – with a sword. They also murdered an effigy of The Queen, which ACM aren't happy about either.

“Imagine the public outcry, both from Democrats and Republicans, were an Australian band to behave similarly towards the President and First Lady of the United States. Gwar, as public figures, are no doubt role models to many impressionable young people. This kind of irresponsible and hateful behaviour has the potential to incite violence both in Australia and abroad.”

ACM urged concerned citizens to email the Soundwave Festival to complain.

The American band are renowned for their horror-themed live shows, which have included the abuse of former American President George Bush, and usually involve spraying the audience with fake blood.

UPDATE: Gwar "front-thing" Oderus Urungus, who did the head chopping, has issued a statement following death threats received by the band and their management since the footage of their antics went viral.

"We were just playing our show in Brisbane and this guy with giant ears wanders out onstage and tells us to go back to Antarctica, so naturally I removed his head from his shoulders," Oderus begins. "But what was really surprising was that it grew back and I had to chop it off again at Sydney Soundwave. So we are waiting to see what happens tonight. Will it grow back again? Will it come back as a Koala bear?

"And what about the poor Queen? We chopped her tits off and stomped the royal baby to death, and all people seem to care about is this Abbott guy. I tell you this, if you could harvest the power of the wind with this dude's ears, then you could create a machine that would move time and space and enable all the asylum seekers to enjoy Caesar salad every night. And also not have dogs set on them.”

Soundwave continues this Friday 27 February in Melbourne ahead of Adelaide and Perth dates, while Gwar play a Sydney sideshow tonight (Wednesday 26 February) and tomorrow in Melbourne. Dates below.
