More INXS More INXS

Australian rock icons INXS have held onto the number one spot, and gained the number two position as well, in the ARIA Albums Chart this week following the finale of their TV miniseries INXS: Never Tear Us Apart.

Their best of The Very Best retains its top spot while their album Kick rises to second. Kick first charted in 1987 when it debuted at #2 and then spent another few weeks at #2 in 1988, never quite cracking the top spot. It would have been quite remarkable to see the record soar to #1 26 years later, but they've kept themselves out of that record – and by some way. There is a significant difference in sales between the top two spots.

They do rack up one record this week though, they are the first Australian act to ever have the first two albums on the ARIA Albums Chart and the first act to do so since Michael Jackson's death in 2009. They also held at 17 with Live At Wembley while The Swing climbed further from 43 to 25, Shabooh Shoobah moved up from 41 to 33 and Listen Like Thieves re-entered the top 50 at 36.

In the Singles Chart, INXS' Never Tear Us Apart reached its highest ever chart position in Australia. It originally peaked at 14 in September 1988 but this week climbed from 16 to 11. Need You Tonight also continued to climb, this week moving from 33 to 28.
