Push Over Festival Cancelled Due To Low Ticket Sales

Melbourne's long running all ages festival Push Over has this afternoon announced it will not be proceeding with their scheduled event in 2014, due to low ticket sales.

The event has been running for the past 21 years, offering Victorian youth a chance to see many acts usually reserved for pub and club gigs out of reach of young punters. This year's event was to feature Buried In Verona, Deez Nuts, The Smith Street Band, PEZ, Dream On Dreamer, Cub Sport, Allday, Remi and more at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Monday 10 March.

Festival director Shane Wickens expressed disappointment at not being able to present the festival this year, but says they will make changes to their model to ensure future prosperity.

“We are disappointed to see ticket sales down on previous years, however we know we're in the middle of a very tough summer music festival season," he said in a statement. "It's now time to revamp the model for the future. We apologise to the artists who have made a commitment to Push Over and to the music fans who have purchased tickets.  Refunds are available at the point of sale. ”

They have announced something of a consolation in its place though, as they add a stage to the free Moomba Festival taking place at Birrarung Murr in Melbourne on the same date the festival was set to happen. More details on acts featured there are to come.
