Whitechapel will replace them.

More Megadeth More Megadeth

It seems things between former Metallica members Dave Mustaine and Jason Newsted aren't so good, as Mustaine's Megadeth have booted Newsted's new band Newsted off the Soundwave sideshows they were to be playing together later this month.

American death metal band Whitechapel will join the two shows in Newsted's place.

A statement from Soundwave issued this evening simply said, “At the request of Megadeth, Newsted will not be playing the above Sidewave shows and instead will be replaced by Whitechapel.”

Mustaine was famously booted from Metallica in 1983, a few years before Newsted joined the metal masters, with whom he stuck with until 2001. At the time Mustaine was very vocally against his exclusion from the band and his replacement Kirk Hammett, though we are unsure if this is what has prompted the decision to boot Newsted from these shows.
