But we might get something "very cool" later in the year.

More Hoodoo Gurus More Hoodoo Gurus

For the past couple of years, legendary Aussie rockers the Hoodoo Gurus have showed what impeccable taste they have in garage rock and booked some incredible bills as a part of their Dig It Up! invitational concerts.

It was at one of these shows that the Sunnyboys reformed for the first time in decades (as Kids In Dust) and at these events that legendary bands like The Sonics, Flamin' Groovies, The Fleshtones, Blue Oyster Cult have made rock fans dreams come true.

As well as these great acts, each show has seen the Gurus take on one of their classic records in full (2012 was Stoneage Romeos, last year was Mars Needs Guitars); but it's not happening in 2014, esteemed front man Dave Faulkner says.

“As for the rest of the year, we are still formulating plans but one thing I can definitely say: we WON'T be doing another series of Dig It Up! concerts this year,” he said on Facebook this morning.

The band play an Australia Day show in Brisbane this weekend (details in theGuide below), while Faulkner will pay tribute as a part of the Big Star's Third show at Sydney's Enmore Theatre this Thursday night. The band also headline this year's The Gum Ball event

He urged Brisbane punters to get to this weekend's show, before intimating other cities might get something special from the Gurus later this year.

“For everyone else, I hope we'll have something VERY COOL to announce soon for later in the year but, for now, mum's the word,” he wrote.
