Event moved to Australia Day

The planned New Year's Eve dance party at new Western Sydney theme park Wet 'N' Wild has been cancelled the day of the event, with promoters pulling the plug due to technical issues.

The sold-out event, NYE Water Festival, was due to feature Yolanda Be Cool, Faydee, Will Sparks, Tigerlilly and internationals Gtronic and Haezer, amongst others, but in a statement this morning the theme park placed the blame at the feet of promoters One Cube Entertainment, who have said the event will take place at a later date.

In a statement One Cube said, “We have made the very difficult decision to postpone our New Years Eve event at Wet 'N' Wild Sydney. This decision is in the best interest of our patrons due to some last minute production issues. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and are currently working on something even better for Australia Day at Wet 'N' Wild Sydney. This new line-up will include the addition of some brand new headliners being announced shortly.”

Wet 'N' Wild described the issue as a “major technical production issue.”

It was due to begin at 4pm, with fans paying up to $200 for VIP tickets.

One punter expressed his anger on the event's Facebook page, writing, “Is this serious? Ive just driven 16hrs from south of adelaide! Im wanting some serious fucking reimbursement!!” (sic)

The theme park has enjoyed a dream run since opening earlier this year, with the park repeatedly reaching capacity during the Christmas period.

There has not been a mention of ticket refunds, but One Cube say they “will contact current ticket holders with additional information regarding the new event later today. For further information contact the event promoters on: info@nyefestival.net.au.”

One Cube Entertainment is understood to share a Director with Sydney club promoters Trashbags.
