Rolf Harris To Face More Child Assault Charges

Australian entertainer and ARIA Hall Of Fame inductee Rolf Harris is facing more indecent assault charges, including the indecent assault of a girl aged seven or eight, according to UK media today.

Harris is facing 13 counts of indecent assault and making indecent images of children, and today it is being reported that three new allegations have been added by prosecutors. According to the Mirror the 83-year-old is now being accused of abusing a seven or eight year-old girl in the late '60s, and another 14-year-old female in the '70s. A third, and believed to be the final, offence relates to an existing complaint from a woman who alleges she was assaulted in 1985 while 19-years-old.

A spokesperson from the Crown Prosecution Service said, “The CPS has decided that Rolf Harris is to be prosecuted over a further three allegations of indecent assault… The alleged offences relate to one existing complainant and two new complainants.”

They added, “These three allegations were included in the file sent to the CPS by the Metropolitan Police in August of this year, however as part of the ongoing review process for all cases, it has been decided that these allegations should be formally added to the indictment as further counts.”

Harris, who is a member of the Order Of Australia, has yet to comment on the charges. The four charges of making indecent images of a child are more recent that these three new allegations and are believed to have taken place between March and July last year.

His next court appearance in London is on January 14, where he is expected offer a plea. The trial is due to start April 30.
