Buble remains King of Xmas Pop

More Beyonce More Beyonce

As predicted by midweek forecasts, Beyonce made a charge at the ARIA Albums Chart with her surprise end-of-year release. But the self-titled album was no match for the now-annual Xmas chart-topper Christmas by Michael Buble. Beyonce had to settle for a number two debut behind Buble's already 9-times-platinum album. Beyonce did enter the Digital Albums Chart at number one - pushing Buble down to two there.

Another Xmas favourite, The 12th Man also made a surge with Willy Nilly - The 12th Man's Biggest Hits, rising from six to to three. Other big movers included Neil Finn & Paul Kelly's Goin' Your Way, up from 27 to 17 and Jack Johnson's From Here To Now To You, up from 43 to 34. And courting controversy helped Troy Cassar-Daley & Adam Harvey's The Great Country Songbook back into the top 50, leaping from 60 to 45.

The only other new entry into the Xmas top 50 was Matt Corby's Live On The Resolution Tour set, in at 48 - it came in at 15 on the digital chart. Outside the 50, Russell Morris finds the deluxe CD/DVD edition of his Sharkmouth album enter at 78, just ahead of a double edition of Alicia Keys' Girl On Fire CD and VH1 Storytellers DVD in at 79.

Triple j's attempt at starting a new tradition of Xmas songs going to number one for the holiday season was dealt a blow as their guest-laden single Christmas Number One tumbled down the chart. It fell from its peak position of nine last week to 69 this week.

John Legend's All Of Me remains atop the ARIA Singles chart with Pharrell Williams' Happy threatening to take over the spot next week, as he moves from ten to four this week (his first top five solo hit here). The only new entries into the singles listings came from Glee's Lea Michelle, in at 45 with Cannonball, Feelin' Myself by will.i.am, Miley Cyrus, Wiz Khalifa and French Montana at 53 and Childish Gambino's 3005 at 81.
