Vance Joy is on vocal rest.

More Vance Joy More Vance Joy

ARIA nominated singer-songwriter Vance Joy has been forced to withdraw from this weekend's Meredith Music Festival under doctor's orders, it has been revealed this afternoon.

The musician has been ordered to rest his voice for the foreseeable future in order to prevent permanent damage, which has meant he is no longer able to perform at the event this Friday afternoon as scheduled.

A statement from Vance Joy's people reads as follows:

“Following doctors orders & to prevent the risk of permanent damage, Vance Joy has been placed on vocal rest for the foreseeable future.  As a result Vance Joy has to cancel his performance at Meredith Music Festival. We want to thank you for your understanding & well wishes. James and band are absolutely shattered, but his long term health has to be our priority here & therefore must follow doctors orders. This has been a really tough decision to make, given James' personal affinity with the festival.”
