The event happens in Sydney this December.

This December sees the return of the Screen Music Awards, which will this year be held at Sydney's historic State Theatre. The awards, presented by APRA AMCOS, together with the AGSC (Australian Guild of Screen Composers) have been bumped from their regular November date ion order to coincide with the Tropfest short film festival event, set to happen the day before.

Members of The Chaser Chris Taylor and Andrew Hansen will again be on board to host the awards this year, when they take place at the beautiful Sydney venue on Monday 9 December. Throughout the evening awards will be presented in 13 different categories, giving kudos to the finest composers for television, film, documentaries and advertising.

The musical director for this year's event – always an important task, but even moreso at this event – is Emmy Award winner Ashley Irwin, who will lead an orchestra through a series of the night's nominated compositions.

Stay tuned for the nominee announcement set to happen on Thursday 7 November.
