More Cold Chisel More Cold Chisel

Legendary Aussie rockers Cold Chisel have announced the release of a new live CD and DVD titled The Live Tapes Vol. 1, showcasing one of their electric shows just after their Light The Nitro tour last year.

The band recorded their gig at the Hordern Pavilion on 18th April, a smaller concert that came a few months after their 36-date Light The Nitro tour, selling over 300,000 tickets, and launched their gold-certified LP No Plans.

Frontman Jimmy Barnes says fans can expect a slightly different experience than the 36-date tour, with a few new additions to proceedings.

"We were really road hardened by the time of that Hordern gig because we'd just finished that big tour a few months prior,” Barnes said.

"Adding a few new songs in the set for those launch gigs kept things fresh for us. Listening and watching it back, it's raw and primal, warts and all - like the best rock & roll should be."

The new CD/DVD Cold Chisel's first live album in ten years, but just as the plural title suggests, the band plans to release more live recordings, as a large review of their archives in 2011 revealed multi-track recordings of gigs in the late '70s and early '80s.

Now that the band have their own label imprint, the recordings will be restored, mixed and released at irregular intervals, with spokespeople for the band suggesting there would be at least five released in the next five years.

The Live Tapes Vol. 1: Hordern Pavilion. April 18, 2012 will be available on Deluxe 2 CD and one DVD pack, a double CD, a Blu-Ray and Standard DVD or through digital download. You can also preorder through the Cold Chisel page.
