Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah has responded to Fall Out Boy fans on his twitter page over the weekend, revealing that the American emo/pop punk poster boys were well in line for an appearance on next year’s Soundwave festival but won’t be appearing after all.
A difference of opinion with regards to where they would sit on the bill is being blamed for the band’s ensuing absence from the 2014 Soundwave line up, with Maddah revealing that the band wanted to be one of the three headline acts.
@veetz89 they thought they should be one of the top 3 headliners. We disagreed.— AJ (@iamnotshouting) July 5, 2013
@SwiftStump Before I block you, here's a recap: they wanted to headline. They're not big/good enough to headline. They fucked off in a huff.— AJ (@iamnotshouting) July 20, 2013
The festival’s popularity seems to be on the up and up, with this in mind a look at the top three headline acts from the past three festivals make it seem like Maddah has a point.
2013: Metallica, Linkin Park, Blink-182
2012: System of a Down, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit
2011: Iron Maiden, Queens of the Stone Age, Slayer
What do you think? Do Fall Out Boy belong in such company?
Music fans around the countryremain glued to Maddah's twitter account as he gives insight into the line up possibilities of the Soundwave, Harvest and Warped festivals.
