Dale Watson & His Lonestars Return To Australia

20 July 2013 | 3:02 pm | Staff Writer

Five dates towards the end of this year.

Austin music legend Dale Watson is bringing his incredible band The Lone Stars back to Australia after a triumphant showing at Bluesfest a couple of years back.

Watson is a country music renegade, his live shows are energetic affairs and his brand of songwriting is well and truly indebted to the outlaw country legends of the 70s – Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash et al. He's no fan of the “Nashville rash” as he calls it – he's as far from a pop-country artists as you can get.

His band are brilliant country musicians, with wailing lap steel and a driving, chugging rhythm section adding a beautiful touch to his distinctive classic country baritone voice.

Watson has just released a great new LP in El Rancho Azul, but he has 20 other records too mine material from for these shows so we're sure you can expect a real mixed back of great Texan country brilliance.

We can guarantee you that he will not be flying Tiger while he's here – let's just say that his last visit to Australia was somewhat hampered by the budget airline.

Dates are below for this Austin Music Hall Of Famer and tickets are on sale right now.
